About thirty kilometres from Bédoin, Vaison-la-Romaine is one of the finest heritage stops in the Vaucluse. The town combines Roman remains, an ancient bridge and a hilltop medieval town: over 2,000 years of history in a single day.
An ancient and medieval town
Vaison-la-Romaine preserves important Roman archaeological sites, an ancient theatre and a Roman bridge still in use. On the other side of the Ouvèze, the medieval town, with its lanes and upper town, offers a unique atmosphere and lovely viewpoints.
Market and local life
Vaison hosts one of the region's great Provençal markets, traditionally on Tuesday morning. As days and times can change, check the up-to-date information with the tourist office before your visit.
