Around Mont Ventoux, Provence reveals many charming hilltop villages, just minutes from Bédoin. Here are a few destinations not to miss during a stay in the Vaucluse.
The villages to discover
- Le Barroux: a village crowned by its castle, with lovely views over the plain and the Dentelles.
- Crillon-le-Brave: a delightful hilltop village, renowned for its setting and its panorama of the Ventoux.
- Malaucène: at the foot of the north side of the Ventoux, a lively village and the start of one of the climbs.
- Caromb: an authentic Provençal village, among vines and orchards.
- Brantes: clinging to the flank of the Ventoux, facing the Toulourenc, for lovers of timeless villages.
The Dentelles de Montmirail
These jagged limestone ridges offer spectacular landscapes, much loved by hikers and climbers. They are also home to some of the region's finest vineyards.
Vineyards and tastings
The region is famous for its wines: AOC Ventoux, but also Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Beaumes-de-Venise nearby. Many estates offer tastings, in moderation and respecting the rules of the road.
