When to visit Bédoin? Mont Ventoux through the seasons

Spring (April to June)

Cherry trees and orchards bloom at the foot of the Ventoux, the light is soft and the temperatures suit both cycling and hiking, before the big heat. It is an ideal season for sporty visitors and for anyone who prefers peace and quiet.

• The summit road: it usually reopens in mid-April on the Bédoin side (on 17 April in 2026) and a little later on the Malaucène side, depending on snow. Check the state of the road before setting off.
• Cherries: the harvest generally starts around the end of May and continues through June.
• At altitude: the weather stays changeable: always keep a warm layer for the summit.

Summer (July and August)

This is high season: full sun, markets, terraces and mild evenings. The average temperature in July is around 25°C in Bédoin, with afternoons often hotter. Go out early in the morning and keep the hottest hours for the pool.

• Lavender: on the Sault plateau it mainly flowers in the first half of July; lavandin takes over from mid-July to mid-August.
• Access to the forests: from 15 June to 15 September, it can be restricted or banned depending on the fire risk, including on the Ventoux. The risk map is published every day for the following day.
• Booking: holiday homes with a pool are in high demand: book early.

Autumn (September to November)

The grape harvest, golden light and still pleasant temperatures: autumn is one of the most beautiful seasons, and much quieter than summer. The vines turn from green to yellow and then deep red, and the colours generally last until early November.

• The grape harvest: it takes place in September in the Ventoux vineyards, with wine-related events at that time.
• Cycling and hiking: lovely conditions in September and October, with less heat than in summer.
• The summit road: it generally closes around mid-November (on 18 November in 2025).

Winter (November to March)

A very quiet season, with wilder landscapes and sometimes snow at the top of the Ventoux. It is the time for a peaceful stay, away from the crowds.

• The summit road: it is closed in winter: from 18 November 2025 to 17 April 2026 on the Bédoin side, and until mid-May on the Malaucène side. Chalet Reynard and the Mont Serein resort generally remain accessible all year.
• Winter equipment: the Montagne law applies from 1 November to 31 March in the communes concerned: winter tyres or snow chains on board.
• Mont Serein: depending on snow cover, you can ski there.

• Cycling: from April to June, then in September and October: milder temperatures and fewer people than in high summer.
• Hiking: in spring and autumn; in summer, set off early and check access to the forests.
